Before the G-spot, the clitoris was thought to be the sole trigger for the female orgasm. The G-spot was hurled into pop culture in the 1980’s when many books and sexologists sang its praises.  When stimulated, the G-spot is said to produce a mind-blowing female orgasm including, in some cases, female ejaculation. The G-spot is a coveted place inside the vagina that both men and women have longed to locate.

What Is The G-Spot?

The G-spot is a bean-shaped area within the vagina that, when stimulated, can produce a heightened sense of sexual arousal and a most powerful orgasm.  Typically, the pleasure felt when the G-spot is stimulated is much more intense than that of clitoral stimulation. The G-spot, sometimes referred to as the female prostate, is comprised of flexible tissue; it feels coarser to the touch when manipulated than the nearby tissue. This sensitive area consists of erectile tissue and therefore becomes engorged with blood when properly stimulated.

How Do We Know It’s Really There? Do All Women Have It?

The short answer is yes all women have a G-spot. Although this has been the topic of much debate, there are several research studies that prove that the G-spot does exist. Several studies claim to have found evidence of the G-spot. One French research team performed ultrasound scans on a small group of women as they had sex. Changes in their vaginas during intercourse led the team to discover physiological proof of the G-spot.

Other research suggests that orgasms through clitoral stimulation are closely related to those of G-spot stimulation, implying that the G-spot is a sort of continuation of the clitoris. MRI studies have also shown evidence of the G-spot and in 2011, Adam Ostrzenski, a researcher from Poland, declared he had found anatomical proof of the G-spot. Ostrzenski performed a dissection on a cadaver in order to explore the anatomical structures of the G-spot.  Though he has not claimed that the G-spot would have the same effect for all women, he has said that evidence does exist of grape-like clusters comprised of erectile tissue thought to be the G-spot.

Where Is It?

The G-spot, thought to be about the size of a quarter, is located approximately 1 to 3 inches inside the vagina, somewhere between the opening of the vagina and the urethra. The G-spot is inside the anterior or front wall of the vagina, meaning it is on the same side as your belly button towards your stomach.  Remember, the G-spot is an area of tissue, it is not a true spot or button and it may take some time to locate. The G-spot has a rougher feel to it than the surrounding tissue and it is best stimulated with a bit of pressure rather than light strokes.

How Can I Find My G-Spot?

Before embarking on your first exploration, remember to relax and be patient. Lie on your back, with your knees bent and legs spread apart. With your palm up, insert one or two fingers into the vagina. Stroke the vaginal wall under your pubic bone and press your finger against the front wall of the vagina towards your belly.

Feel around for a patch of tissue that feels different from the rest, this area may be puckered or rough. If you can’t seem to find it, relax and try fantasizing a bit. When you are aroused, this area will become engorged and thus easier to locate.

A helpful hint: once you’ve found the G-spot and applied pressure, you may have the urge to urinate. This sensation is helpful in locating the correct area and will disappear as the G-spot is further stimulate, being replaced by pleasurable feelings and arousal.

Your guy may be all too eager to find and stimulate your G-Spot, which is great, but you will probably need to guide him to it.  If you have already found it yourself, you’ll have a better idea of how to direct his touch.

To begin, have him penetrate your vagina with one or two fingers. Ask him to feel along the upper, front wall of your vagina, remind him that the area may feel rough or bumpy. If he’s not found it, tell him to kiss and tease your breasts, as any added stimulation or arousal will swell the G-spot, thus making it easier to find. Prop yourself up with some pillows under your backside, this will allow your legs to open wider and make access to your vaginal opening more accessible.

Once he’s found the spot, tell him to massage the area, apply a bit of pressure and not be afraid to try various strokes, such as circles or figure eights to further stimulate the area. Many women say the best touch for the G-pot is repeated tapping with a bit of pressure. This motion feels as though he’s touching your G-spot for the very first time over and over and over, which is sure to send you over the edge.

What Sexual Positions Are Best For Stimulating It?

Manual stimulation may not be the preference of all women, and it is possible to stimulate the G-spot through sexual intercourse. There are some positions that hit the G-spot better than others.

Perhaps the best sexual position for achieving G-spot contact is “woman on top”. This position allows the penis to come in direct contact with the front wall of the vagina, especially if the woman leans forward a bit. Additionally, this position allows the woman to control the speed and depth of the penis, and will give her the ability to guide the man to the G-spot again and again.

Another sexual position that is good for optimum G-spot stimulation is the “doggy style” or rear-entry position. This works especially well if the woman can lie flat on her stomach, with her legs open just enough for penetration. This allows the penis to be in close contact with the vaginal walls and G-spot contact is impossible to miss.

If missionary is more your speed, with the help of a few properly placed pillows under your backside, you can hit the G-spot with no problem.

Will Kegels Make The G-Spot More Sensitive?

Yes, it is possible to heighten the sensations of your G-spot by doing regular Kegel exercises.  Strengthening the vaginal muscles, as you do with Kegels, will help you to have a tighter grip during sex, thus putting more pressure on the G-pot.  If you’re not sure how to target these muscles, pretend that you are trying to stop the flow of urine. The muscles you have clenched are the vaginal muscles or pelvic floor muscles. Repeatedly contract and release these muscles, holding the contraction for a few seconds will help to strengthen the area.

The G-spot does exist and all women have one! Even if you can’t find yours, have no fear; with some guided practice you’ll be well on your way to mind-blowing G-spot stimulation and orgasm. It is important to be patient and relax, you will find it or you can guide your man to it. Either way start now, practice makes perfect and why deny yourself one more second without finding that precious spot.
